Progress - Sr SW Developer

Knowledge
o Full life-cycle experience.
o BS in Information Systems, or related Field
o At least 5 years of experience working with PROGRESS.
o Solid design, coding, testing, debugging and trouble-shooting skills.
o Must be able to translate functional requirements into technical designs.
o At least 3 Years of experience with Progress GUI/AppBuilder.
o Excellent communications skills.
o Experience with SOA preferred.
o MIS/Manufacturing background preferred.
o Aptitude for learning and understanding business processes.
· Communication and Support
o Work closely with employees from other departments, including Development, Product Support, Product Management and Project Management.
o Seek to improve customer satisfaction, loyalty and retention by providing a quality product and excellent user experience.
o Contribute to the positive growth and development of the development team and share ideas for improvement of the process.
o Champion ways to improve current software processing on an ongoing basis.

Process Responsibilities
o Designs and codes superior technical solutions.
o Testing, diagnosing and fixing faults in all such software, sometimes in consultation with users.
o Writing new code and maintaining existing code according to specifications.
o Recognize system deficiencies and work to implement effective solutions.
o Creates efficient and logical databases for clients.
o Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
o Follows established coding standards
o Consistently deliver high-quality service to customers.
o Create and maintain development system documents and records.
o When testing, include negative testing to determine weaknesses in the computer code.
o Prepare and document any set up work needed for specific tests, i.e. data preparation for specific scenario tests.
o Raise and prioritize defects and retest defect fixes closing them when they have been resolved.
o Recommend program improvements or corrections to development team lead.
o Evaluate program performance prior to implementation to ensure efficiency of operation.
